Apple allows users to order parts from Apple to repair themselves

Apple has always been reluctant to allow unauthorized repairers to repair the company’s equipment. But today, Apple announced that it will open up repair rights to users via the Self Service Repair program. Apple will provide parts and tools for users to order. After the goods arrive, users can repair faulty equipment by themselves.

The advantage of ordering parts from Apple is that the reliability and safety of the original equipment will be better. Of course, the disadvantage is that the user needs to have the hands-on ability, otherwise it cannot be repaired.

In order to cooperate with the self-maintenance plan, Apple will release product maintenance manuals, through which users can locate equipment failure points and corresponding maintenance methods.

Apple Self Service Repair

Apple will provide more than 200 independent parts and repair tools, allowing users to complete common repairs of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series by themselves.

Self-service repair services are for individual technicians with knowledge and experience in repairing equipment. Apple’s advice for non-technical personnel is still to contact Apple’s authorized repair point.

Apple initially only provides self-service repairs in the United States, but it will gradually expand to more markets in the future when users can order parts according to their own capabilities.

The initial repair services mainly focused on common repair modules, such as display screens, batteries, and camera modules, and Apple will expand the scope of repairs in the future.
