Android Studio 3.1 Canary 4 has been released and includes regular bug fixes, available from Canary or Dev channels.

If you have installed Android from the  Canary or Dev channels, you can upgrade it as follows: Help> Check for Update  (Mac: Android Studio> Check for Updates )

Known Issues in Android Studio 3.1 Canary 3:

  • For Mac users: There is a known issue with the following error when building an existing project with this release. To solve this problem, first, select “Build> Clean Project” from the menu bar and execute the clean build. Execution failed …
    > v1 signature (JAR signature) not yet generated.
  • For Kotlin developers: When building a project, you may encounter errors similar to the following. This is an exception that is thrown out of memory by the Kotlin compiler daemon – even though your stack trace may indicate that the file ended abnormally: To solve this problem, just try to build the project again.
    Execution failed for task ‘: app: compileDebugKotlin’.
    > Internal compiler error.
