AMD may launch Radeon RX 6×50 XT series in 2022Q2: Navi 21 & 22 GPUs with 18 Gbps memory

A recent report pointed out that AMD may update the Radeon RX 6000 product line based on the RDNA 2 architecture GPU, which will be equipped with higher frequency GDDR6 memory and even increase the core frequency. Referring to the naming specifications of the mobile platform, it may be called the Radeon RX 6×50 series.

According to Wccftech, AMD will launch these new graphics cards in the second quarter of 2022, including products equipped with Navi 21 and Navi 22 cores. It will be named the Radeon RX 6×50 XT series, with a total of three models: Radeon RX 6950 XT, Radeon RX 6850 XT, and Radeon RX 6750 XT.
The focus of this AMD update is on the upgrade of video memory. The Radeon RX 6×50 XT series will feature GDDR6 memory at 18 Gbps, which is currently only available on the Radeon RX 6900XT Liquid Edition and Radeon RX 6500 XT. In the last month, Samsung has announced to provide partners with 16Gb (2GB) GDDR6 memory modules at 20 Gbps and 24 Gbps. These 18 Gbps memory modules are rumored to have come with 20 Gbps dies.

But what everyone wants to know more is whether the original Navi 21 and Navi 22 will be changed to the N6 process. According to TSMC, the N6 process will increase transistor density by 18% compared to the N7 process, and can effectively reduce production and development costs with the same design rules, design infrastructure, SPICE simulation programs and IP. This means that the GPU performance will be further improved without investing too much extra cost. Intel’s ARC series GPU (Alchemist) to be released next year and AMD’s latest Navi 24 both use the N6 process. But so far, there is no news in this regard.
