8-core chip of the based-ARM 12-inch MacBook is almost the same as the A14X chip
As Apple promised in the WWDC 2020 conference earlier this year, we will see the first MacBook with ARM chips come out before the end of this year.
It was previously reported that this MacBook will use a 12-core ARM chip specially developed by Apple. But the facts do not seem to be the case. In the end, this MacBook will only be equipped with 8-core ARM chips.
Today, digital product whistleblower Komiya said on Twitter that the upcoming 8-core chip of the based-ARM 12-inch MacBook will be almost the same as the A14X Bionic.
8core Apple Silicon is so close to A14X
Maybe the same https://t.co/DxTEUY5gq2— Komiya (@KOMIYA45020228) October 7, 2020
If some readers don’t understand the A14X Bionic chip, they only need to know that it will likely become the standard chip of the iPad Pro 2020, and based on the previously leaked running scores, its performance is similar to the current Intel core i9 processor.
This means that the ARM version of the MacBook, which was previously exposed for a starting price of only $799, will provide computing performance far exceeding that of competing products at the same price.
In addition, because the body structure of the 12-inch MacBook is definitely heavier than the iPad Pro, which is positioned as a tablet, the heat dissipation performance will be better, so the performance release will be better than the iPad Pro, so the final performance may be very scary.
In addition to the MacBook, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which also uses ARM chips, will begin mass production in the fourth quarter of this year and maybe released together with the first ARM version of the MacBook.
