After 20 years, AOL Instant Messenger will be discontinued in December this year

AOL parent company Oath this morning announced in a blog post, AOL Instant Messenger in the official operation of two decades later will be officially closed on December 15 this year. Michael Albers, vice president of communications products at Oath, said the reason for stopping the service was a change in how we had communicated over the years, causing many people to abandon AOL Instant Messenger and use Apple iMessage, Facebook’s WhatsApp, etc. Mobile Applications.

AOL Instant Messenger attracted a large number of users in the late 1990s to chat with each other and send e-mails, which led to new digital technologies that sparked cultural transformation, but the way users communicate with each other has undergone profound changes.

Michael Albers also said that there are plans to continue to build the next generation of iconic brands and life-changing products, similar to the year’s AOL Instant Messenger, but he did not give more details.
